The Sassu Archive of Public Treasures
Inspired by Auktionstipset, this archive functions as a personal design library and a curated reference point: a way to communicate aesthetic direction, patinated materiality and design history. I am personally extremely interested in the social patina of an object, what it represented in its historical context and what it represent today. To me, it is about telling a story and creating belonging within a space. Symbolic value and cultural context will always silently accompany any object, so I believe in choosing it thoughtfully.
Moreover, I think it’s important to understand what design already exists (“Know the blueprint!!”) and work with existing pieces whenever the project allows. I really don’t believe in having to “reinvent the wheel” within furniture production each year and each collection, there are plenty of pieces that already do their job. And many of those show, frankly speaking, a deeper understanding of artisanship, quality and functionality than much of today’s furniture.
